Film Noir, Femme Fatales & Bogart (Fright Bytes Ep. 17)
FRIGHT BYTES does FILM NOIR
In this episode of FRIGHT BYTES, your hosts Lianne Spiderbaby and her brother Steve Mac discuss FILM NOIR and it's influence on the horror genre. With a special introduction directed by Gabriel Carrer, the figure of the FEMME FATALE is also examined more closely; were these women really as evil as film noir made them out to be? How has the femme fatale influenced female villains in horror today?

Fangoria #311
Fangoria #311 is almost here! It will be on the stands in a few weeks, so stay on your toes and get ready to rush out and pick it up (if you don't have a subscription - which - is ridiculous. You save money if you subscribe and it's delivered to your house, thus you save on gas and help the environment by leaving your car parked! Win-win!)
This issue features my interview with the lovely Barbara Bouchet of Italian giallo fame! The article celebrates the anniversary of the beloved Fulci film, Don't Torture A Duckling, starring the lovely Bouchet.

Hot Chick Physics: Horror Jewelery with Tonjia Atomic
I'm a sucker for one-of-a-kind jewelery, especially if it's vintage and/or horror film inspired. Recently, my friend, Tonjia Atomic, named a piece of jewelery she designed (under her brand, Hot Chick Physics) after me for Women In Horror month! As you can imagine, I was stunned and flattered and blown away by this kind gesture - not only that, the earrings are stellar. Check them out:

Tonjia is a very interesting and talented girl; a filmmaker, actress, musician, and freelance writer, Tonjia makes jewelery on the side (of her very busy life). Her horror short films include Awesome Ouija Board and Companion. Tonjia's writing has been featured in several online and print magazines, and she is currently the women-in-horror-specialty writer for Dark River Press. You can also check her out in the webseries, The Prosaic Life of Stasha and Ada (she also plays Stasha).
I asked Tonjia to share with me a little bit about her jewelery line (viewers of my show, Fright Bytes, will also get an opportunity to win some of Tonjia's jewelery designs in an upcoming contest on the show). Tonjia is designing several new unique pieces for February (Women In Horror month), and she's naming them after her friends and colleagues in the horror world. She told me:
"I started out making earrings from toys and miniatures. From there my jewelry-making passion and skills have grown to include resin and semi-precious materials in the form of necklaces, earrings, rings, brooches, bracelets, and hairpins. Through filmmaking I have met so many amazing women working in horror and I was inspired to make a Women in Horror line of jewelry named after them. The inspired pieces are dark and romantic or a fun nod to gore using dark colors and themes. Each piece is named after a filmmaker or woman who has been a proponent in the horror genre. This is a limited edition line that I will continue as long as I can. There are only so many of each piece and when they sell out they will no longer be offered. Visit my online store for handmade resin, toy, and semi-precious jewelry at":

We have three special episodes coming up in February alone. Be sure to subscribe, and PLEASE tell your friends - the more people that watch the show, the better.
